Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cash Applications Specialist to join our leading Healthcare client in Center City. This role is responsible for accurately identifying, processing, and reconciling premium and non-premium payments while ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Accounting, Billing, and Accounts Receivable, to resolve payment discrepancies and enhance overall efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately identify and input premium and non-premium payments into relevant systems using established procedures.
  • Perform quality cross-checks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data entered.
  • Adhere to departmental MAR controls to maintain compliance and process integrity.
  • Research payments received in-house or via bank imaging tools, resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Work closely with internal teams (Accounting, Billing, AR) to ensure payments are properly allocated and reconciled.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external business partners and bank vendors to facilitate payment issue resolution.
  • Meet critical deadlines for payment research and application, ensuring all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are achieved.
  • Manage batching and prepping of incoming mail in compliance with internal controls.
  • Process and resolve daily exception reports, particularly during peak periods such as Open Enrollment.
  • Understand various payment adjustments and their impact on customers.
  • Analyze and interpret data trends to proactively resolve payment issues.
  • Maintain departmental production and quality metrics while identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Transmit checks via Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) & Virtual Lockbox, ensuring appropriate reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (up to 2 years of relevant work experience).
  • Strong ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective team collaboration for problem resolution and strategic planning.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess data and determine root causes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Preferred: Treasury experience in the Healthcare/Insurance industry.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Oracle applications and PeopleSoft.
