Job Description

Trillium Construction is hiring a full-time Commercial Electrical Project Manager for a client in Chaska, Minnesota. The client is a full-service commercial electrical contractor specializing in tenant improvements, remodels, new construction, and service, delivering high-quality results with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

Major Expectations & Accountabilities

  • Collaboration: Work with the Sales Team and Project Managers to identify the best approach, value, and pricing for commercial electrical projects.
  • Proposal Development: Partner with the Electrical Division to create and deliver competitive bid proposals, estimates for commercial electrical projects, and change orders.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate new customer and contractor relationships while maintaining existing ones, supporting the Sales Team in generating growth opportunities.
  • Procurement: Manage the ordering of materials through Remarcable and equipment rentals from approved vendors as needed for projects and service calls.
  • Profitability: Ensure projects align with our client’s profitability and cost-control goals.
  • Customer Communication: Maintain clear communication with customers throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring satisfaction before, during, and after project completion.
  • Documentation: Complete all required project documents, including work orders, materials used, and billing information to ensure accurate customer estimates.
  • Labor Management: Collaborate with the assigned Project Manager and Field Supervisor to assess labor needs for installations, project closeouts, and completion.
  • Scope Transmission: Communicate project scope and bid details to field leads, subcontractors, and suppliers as necessary.
  • Customer Advocacy: Act as a trusted advisor to customers, setting project objectives and ensuring final outcomes meet or exceed expectations.
  • Proactive Engagement: Continuously seek new opportunities, share information with other Project Managers and the Service Department Manager, and promote services.
  • Safety & Values: Uphold and promote our client’s philosophy, processes, values, and safety standards.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • Education: Two-year technical associate degree in electrical estimating, project management, construction management, or a similar discipline.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of experience in estimating, preparing commercial electrical bids, and managing electrical projects.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of AutoCAD or estimating software.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to anticipate changes in conditions and operations, react effectively, and provide practical solutions.
  • Industry Expertise: Strong understanding of commercial electrical applications and installations.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer Service: Exceptional customer service skills with attention to detail.

  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in reading schematics and technical documents related to electrical systems.
  • Project Management: Strong skills in managing and estimating commercial electrical projects.
  • Software Expertise: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook).
  • Experience: Proven expertise in commercial electrical applications and systems.
