A/Prof Kiran Shekar MBBS, FCICM, FCCCM, PhD

Senior Intensive Care Specialist and Director of Clinical Research at the Adult Intensive Care Service, the Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane. He is also the Deputy Head of the Critical Care Research Group (CCRG) at the Prince Charles Hospital. Shekar specialises in design and conduct of both translational science projects and clinical studies. His current research is largely directed at pathophysiology of cardiorespiratory failure and immunobiology of ECLS. He has significant experience in conducting mechanistic research in large animal models of lung injury and ECLS. His pioneering work into drug pharmacokinetics in adult patients on ECLS is recognised globally. Shekar is a member of the Scientific Committee of the International ECMO Network (ECMOnet). He is also the lead for the Educational research Workgroup of ECMOed and a member of the APELSO education committee.

Simon Sin MD, MBBS , FRCP (Edinburgh)

Specialist in Critical Care Medicine, consultant of Department of Adult Intensive Care and ECMO program leader at Queen Mary Hospital (ELSO Center of Excellence – Gold level award), Hospital Authority, HK. Accredited fellowship in Critical Care Medicine (2008), Cardiology (2012), Advance Internal Medicine (2009) (Hong Kong College of Physicians). He is Education Co-Chair/member of the Steering Committee of ELSO Asia-Pacific Chapter (APELSO).

Bishoy Zakhary MD

Intensivist at OHSU – Oregon Health & Science Universityin Portland OR. His primary interests are respiratory failure and the emerging role of ECMO support. He currently serves as the ELSO Chair of Logistics and Education.
